Shakira + Farah Khan = something I should have seen coming
For those of you who don't belong to the MTV generation and perhaps missed the Video Music Awards last night... I don't even know how to explain this. Shakira, Colombian music sensation, was on hand to perform her hit song "Hips Don't Lie." Unlike the music video, her live performance was choreographed by none other than Bollywood veteran Farah Khan.
I'm not going to tell you what to think; just head on over here and draw your own conclusions.

yeah, i didn't really think there was anything desi about it, except for the beginning. it looked more like belly dancing. plus the background dancers were in the dark for most of the time. that's not very bolly.

Agreed agreed. Thought it was pointless. Would never have guessed Farah, whom I love, was involved in any way.
Why do I never hear anyone say that Shakira has a weird voice? It's not bad, and it's certainly big sometimes, but it's weird. If I have to pick pop princesses, give me Christina any day.

You don´t like her voice too? I can´t stand it. It sounds "knödelig" (which means something like "sings like she has a dumpling stuck in her throat")

I hated this piece of basterdized kitsch crap. The only thing desi or bolly here was the background dancers. Shakira was doing her thing though the dance moves are real sorry. Didn't see Farah's hand in any of that. Even in the beginning, shakira couldn't pull off the 2 or so bolly poses well. I wish non-bollys would stop to learn bolly before simply assuming anything goes in bolly hence their 100th photocopy type imitation would be ok too.

Yet more reasons why Farah Khan is overrated. All she had to do was reteach Kajara Re and modify a few steps...it would have been so much better.
Saroj Khan (ego aside) is still the best choreo.

She is VERY weird. ALL of her songs are the same with that weirdo yodeling thing. Granted, I would love to have sex with her, but come on...enough with the ENDLESS belly dancing.
